INVITATION TO JOIN MOVEMENT WHAT: To organize a Florida not-for-profit corporation for the purpose of working, by judicial, legislative, executive, and other democratic means, for the repeal of the Tydings-McDuffie Act of 1934, the United States law that granted independence to the Philippines (Philippine Independence Law). To organize chapters in the United States, the Philippines, Canada and other countries. WHY: To revert the status of the Philippines as a commonwealth of the United States like Puerto Rico or to convert the Philippines as a state of the United States like Hawaii. WHO: The organizers believe that Filipinos everywhere love their country and would like to help or return to the Philippines. They believe that only by being a commonwealth or state of the United States can the Philippines radically change the culture of poverty, corruption, and violence in the country. The organizers are Roberto R. Ruelo, Esq. and Bert A. Almeda of Tampa, Florida, and Fernando A. Almeda, Jr. of Surigao City, Philippines. They came up with the idea on June 29, 2005 over dinner at a Tampa restaurant. HOW: We are inviting you to become members of the proposed
organization, to be called the “Movement for the Repeal of Philippine
Independence Law, Inc., Pilipino International National Organization”
(acronym MR. PILIPINO). No membership fee shall be collected, but donations
may be accepted. Members who are registered voters are requested to indicate
their voter’s ID number, precinct number, and polling place address. |
